Lorelei (Revised)

Here is an updated version of the painting: I have changed the Lorelei so that they now have blue-silver fur covering their bodies and black hair. I think this works better with the rest of the painting.
This scene takes place in the future, after our own civilization has crashed. The Lorelei are part of a new species that is evolving away from humanity; in a million years or more, their descendants will resemble large silver otters. Perhaps in other places, mermaids are evolving,along with the elves, trolls, goblins, nyads and other half-human creatures that populate mythology. Maybe they aren't in some make believe past, but will arrive some day in our future.
I will leave the older version in my gallery for a while.
